Your computer and your phone stop being two machines.
A call comes in and the music on your computer goes quiet by itself. A message
arrives on your phone and you answer it from your keyboard. A file goes from
one screen to the other without a cable, without an account, without leaving
your home network.
WHAT IT DOES
Notifications, both ways. Your phone's notifications appear on your computer,
with their icon, and you can reply without picking the phone up.
Messages. Read and write your SMS from your computer, with a real keyboard.
Calls. Your computer lowers its volume when the phone rings and puts it back
when the call ends.
Files and links. Send anything to the other screen in one gesture, at local
network speed.
Media. Pause, skip and set the volume of what your computer is playing, from
your pocket.
Mouse and keyboard. Your phone becomes the touchpad and keyboard of your
computer, useful when the screen is across the room. This works in one
direction only: the phone sends pointer movement and typing to the computer.
The computer never controls the phone, and Cyclop Connect cannot tap, type or
read anything on the phone screen.
Presenter. Hold one button and point: a laser dot follows the phone on your
slides, and the arrows change slide.
Battery and clipboard. Your computer knows how much charge your phone has
left, and a copied text can cross from one to the other.
Find my phone. Make it ring from the computer, even on silent.
WHAT IT ASKS FOR, AND WHY
Notification access. Android calls this "Notification access", and it is what
lets your phone's notifications appear on your computer and lets you answer a
message from your keyboard. You switch it on yourself, in the system settings,
and you can switch it off at any time; the rest of the application keeps
working without it. Notifications are sent only to the computer you have
paired, on your own network, and they are never stored or forwarded anywhere
else.
Cyclop Connect does NOT use the AccessibilityService API. It does not read or
act on the screen of your phone, it does not change your settings, it does not
record calls, and it does not prevent any application from being disabled or
uninstalled. An earlier version offered controlling the phone from the
computer; that feature and the accessibility service it required were removed,
and the application no longer declares one.
WHAT IT NEEDS
A computer running Cyclop OS with a Pro, Gaming, Education or Enterprise
licence, and both devices on the same network. The application will tell you
if the computer it finds cannot be paired, and why.
PRIVACY
Nothing goes through a server of ours, or anybody else's. The two devices talk
to each other directly on your local network, over a channel each one
authenticates with its own certificate, created on the device and never sent
anywhere. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
Cyclop Connect is built by Cyclop Technologies, a European company with North
African roots, on open source code.
